Weigel’s donated over $45,000 to the Smoky Mountain Service Dogs’ Wags for Warriors program, a “transformative initiative dedicated to providing fully trained service dogs to veterans and first responders at no cost. This generous contribution will directly fund the training and placement of two service dogs, offering life-changing support to heroes who have selflessly served their communities and country,” Weigel’s said in a press release.
Weigel’s said the Wags for Warriors program pairs veterans and first responders with highly trained canine companions to meet their individual needs. The dogs assist with tasks such as retrieving items, opening doors, and providing mobility support while also helping to reduce anxiety and improve overall well-being.
“Our veterans and first responders have sacrificed so much for all of us, and it’s our honor to support them in return,” said Bill Weigel, owner of Weigel’s. “The Smoky Mountain Service Dogs’ Wags for Warriors program is a powerful way to give back, transforming lives by providing a loyal companion that offers independence, comfort, and unwavering support. At Weigel’s, we are deeply committed to making a difference in our communities and honoring those who serve.”
“By supporting Wags for Warriors, Weigel’s plays an important role in helping heroes on their journey toward healing and independence through the incredible bond between humans and service animals,” the retailer said.
