Over 90% of customer donations will stay local.

December 15, 2023

Maverik announced that the company raised $323,254 for Feeding America through its annual Round Up Your Change campaign.

The funds are in addition to Maverik’s direct donation of $250,000, which was made in October to kick off the campaign. In total, Maverik will donate $573,254 to Feeding America this year, over $100,000 more than its total contribution last year, according to NACS Daily.

“We are incredibly thankful to Maverik for its generous donation to the Feeding America network. Food banks on the ground are feeling increased pressure from the growing number of people experiencing food insecurity,” said Lauren Biedron, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. "Maverik’s ongoing support will help ensure that neighbors facing hunger have access to the food they need to thrive.”

Ninety percent of customer donations that were raised locally will stay local, with each region’s collections going to serve food banks that assist people in that region. Maverik’s donations will be distributed to 16 Feeding America partner food banks across the 12 Western states where Maverik operates. The remaining donations will support Feeding America’s national strategies to help end hunger in America.

“We’ve teamed up with Feeding America to activate our Round Up Your Change campaign for the third straight fall season, and the kindness of our customers continues to overwhelm us!” said Chuck Maggelet, CEO and chief adventure guide of Maverik. “Local hunger remains a critical issue for our neighbors, and Maverik is proud to work together to help make a difference.”

In addition to funds raised through its Round Up, the convenience store offers ongoing support to local food banks through its food waste reduction program. Since 2021, the program has donated 1,243,711 pounds of surplus food, helping provide 1,036,426 meals to 11 food banks across eight states.

In October, NACS Daily reported how Krispy Krunchy donated over 2,000 pounds of food and more than 1,800 meals to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) following the NACS Show in Atlanta.
