Limited-Edition Wawa Sneakers Are Sweepstakes Prize

Ten lucky winners will make a “Wawa Run” in red and white running shoes.

PHILADELPHIA—For Philly-area residents, Wawa, the Mid-Atlantic chain, is as comfortable as a broken-in shoe. Now the c-store retailer has inspired the creation of a new sneaker, and 10 lucky Wawa fans will each win a pair, the company announced.

This week, the Delaware-County based retailer announced it’s releasing a limited-edition Wawa sneaker in collaboration with Philadelphia-based sneaker designer and manufacturer Garrixon. But not everyone one who wants a pair can get one. The shoes are only available through an end-of-summer social media giveaway dubbed the #WawaRun Gear Sweepstakes.

The sneaker is a classic Nike Air Max 90 running shoe, updated with Wawa-inspired colors and graphics. The red-and-white kicks with blue laces feature the flying-goose pattern from Wawa hoagie wrappers and the words “Wawa Run” along the side. The 10 lucky winners will receive their made-to-order footwear in a “custom hoagie inspired shoebox” that will include a Wawa gift card. Another fun feature is an extra set of shoelaces inside of a small condiment to-go container like the ones Wawa uses for its sides.

Other Wawa-branded merchandise up for grabs in the sweepstakes includes custom tents, coolers and cameras.

This isn’t Wawa’s first foray into footwear. The company already has a line of flip flops, including a Hoagiefest-branded pair.

To enter the #WawaRun Gear Sweepstakes, fans must follow Wawa’s Instagram page (@Wawa) between Tuesday, Aug. 24 and Monday, Aug. 30, and keep a lookout for designated posts. Then they should comment on those posts with the hashtag #sweepstakes and share the post to their own Instagram story.
