CINCINNATI—Kroger has unveiled its newest concept, a food hall called “On the Rhine Eatery,” a block from its headquarters, Winsight Grocery Business reports. The company described the concept as its first foray into a “food-first” culture.

With 52,000 square feet, the eatery is part of an 18-story residential tower. Cincinnati foodservice brands, including Dope Asian Street Fare, Django Western Taco, Eli’s BBQ and Queen City Whip, join Kroger’s restaurant concept, Kitchen 1883 Café and Bar.

“Kroger is thrilled to introduce our first food hall and offer a one-of-its-kind shopping experience in our hometown of Cincinnati, providing a convenient location to experience delicious, quality meals and foods. This innovative destination highlights Kroger’s food-first culture,” said Rodney McMullen, Kroger’s chairman and CEO.

The store also stocks fresh produce, grocery staples, a grab-and-go section and ready-to-heat meals. This Kroger also has an exclusive coffee blend from Starbucks and a walk-up order window for beverages. Customers can order groceries for delivery, with its restaurant food also available for delivery soon.

“On the Rhine Eatery features emerging restaurants and true tastes of Cincinnati—all handpicked by Kroger’s culinary team to create a popular hangout for meals, cocktails and community,” said Teri Rose, Kroger’s senior director of culinary development. “Cincinnati is Kroger’s hub for culinary innovation and experimentation, and the food hall is an example of the types of concepts and ideas we’re creating every day.”
