Casey’s General Stores said it has distributed more than $1.3 million this year in Cash for Classrooms grants to 100 K-12 public and nonprofit private schools across communities where Casey’s operates.
The retailer said the annual program provides individual grants of up to $50,000 for physical improvements, material needs, teacher support and community engagement initiatives. Since 2020, the program has raised $6.2 million, and this year’s $1.3 million total includes nearly $1 million in guest donations, just over $240,000 from Coca-Cola and $100,000 from Casey’s.
Examples of this year’s Cash for Classrooms grants include:
- $50,000 to West Liberty Community School District (West Liberty, Iowa) to build an all‑inclusive, sensory‑friendly playground designed to serve students of all abilities.
- $50,000 to USD 234 Eugene Ware Elementary School (Fort Scott, Kansas) to install an inclusive playground that promotes accessible outdoor learning and play.
- $35,000 to Marshall County High School (Benton, Kentucky) to add a weather‑protective awning that improves accessibility for students using wheelchairs.
- $30,000 to Waterford High School (Waterford, Wisconsin) to purchase new soccer shelters and benches supporting student‑athletes and outdoor activities.
- $25,000 to Mountain View School District (Mountain View, Arkansas) to make building improvements across the district.
“Strong schools help build strong communities, and that’s core to who we are at Casey’s,” said Katie Petru, director of PR, communications and community at Casey’s. “Our purpose is to make life better for our communities and guests every day, and Cash for Classrooms allows us to do that by directly supporting teachers and students where Casey’s calls home. We’re grateful to our generous guests, team members and partners who share our passion for this program and help increase the impact.”
In other recent Casey’s news, earlier this month the retailer was added to the S&P 500, an index that tracks the performance of some of the largest and most consequential publicly traded companies in the United States. This is the first time Casey’s has been included in the S&P 500 since becoming a publicly traded company in 1983.
