CHICAGO—In response to complaints received about how it handles sexual harassment, McDonald’s is introducing a new workplace training program that will focus on harassment and workplace safety, reports CNBC.
This October, restaurant supervisors and employees will go through interactive and computer-based training programs, alongside in-person discussions to further educate and relay proper policy procedures for employees to follow in such circumstances. It will cover topics like mitigating workplace violence, bystander intervention, unconscious bias, anti-bullying tactics and how to report complaints in the workplace. But this isn’t the first effort to improve things.
Last year, McDonald’s partnered with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, to improve policies around sexual harassment, abuse and retaliation. In the fall of 2018, it launched training that was completed by 95% of U.S. franchisees and general managers.
