SEATTLE–If you’re a dog owner in the United States, you know the struggle. You want to make a quick pit stop at the store while you’re on a walk with your dog but can’t bring your furry friend inside due to health code regulations.

DogSpot is tackling that problem by rolling out high-tech dog houses that enable dog owners to secure their pups while they go inside to shop.

According to the press release, DogSpot’s app-connected dog houses are lockable, self-sanitizing, camera-monitored and temperature-controlled, providing dogs a safe and comfortable place to wait while their owners shop at the grocery store. The camera feed, or “Puppy Cam,” allows customers to keep an eye on their dog while inside.

“People who have dogs get it—you don’t get a dog to leave them cooped up inside all day,” said DogSpot co-founder and CEO Chelsea Brownridge. “The best part of their day is going out on walks around town, heading to the dog park and spending time with you. We’re making it possible to say, ‘Wanna go for a walk?!’ more often and more safely than before.”

DogSpot will launch at eight greater Seattle area Quality Food Center locations later this month. Customers can use DogSpot for free of charge while the company kicks off. The press release said that the “partnership between the two companies was formed with the understanding that there are more dogs than children in Seattle and that 97% of dog owners consider their dogs family members.”
