Ohio’s first Buc-ee’s is set to open Monday, April 6, in Huber Heights, just outside of Dayton. Construction on the 74,000-square-foot store is wrapping up, and nearby roadways have been upgraded to accommodate the anticipated influx in traffic, reported local news outlet The Dayton Daily News.
The Huber Heights Buc-ee’s store sits on a 53-acre site, and will have 120 gas pumps, 24 Tesla Superchargers and more than 700 parking spaces.
The retailer has also filed a petition to open a new travel center in northeast Ohio near the Ohio 39 and Interstate 71 interchange, City of Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry announced on Facebook Monday, reported The Dayton Daily News.
“We are still in the final stages of the due diligence process with them, but this step makes the process more public,” she said. “A development of this size doesn’t come around all that often. It’s more than a gas station or restaurant or retail store. It’s a destination and experience that will undoubtedly make a substantial impact on our community.”
According to Perry, the company applied for a Type 2 annexation that would allow the city, county and both townships to benefit—the townships keep their revenues, the city will get income tax and water/sewer revenues and the county will get sales tax.
“Buc-ee's is excited about our partnership with the City of Mansfield and Richland County. We still have some work to do before closing on the property, but both the city's and county's show of support is certainly a huge step in the right direction,” the retailer said in a statement shared with News 5 Cleveland about the potential new store.
Meanwhile, Gulf Oil introduced its new franchise model with the opening of a new store in Jacksonville, Florida, the company shared in a LinkedIn post.
Additionally, QuickChek has plans to open eight stores in New York’s Albany County. “We are excited to bring QuickChek to New York’s capital region and look forward to serving delicious subs and freshly-brewed coffee to its communities,” a representative for the company told News 10.
All the planned stores for the Albany region are 6,730 square feet and include fueling canopies with varying numbers of fueling stations.
