How To Recognize Human Trafficking

Join NACS for a webinar to learn how to identify potential human trafficking situations.

September 03, 2025

Human trafficking is the second fastest growing crime in the world, behind only illicit drug sales. Human trafficking relies on inaction by bystanders—collaboration, training and awareness is essential in the fight against trafficking.

Join NACS for the “Recognizing Human Trafficking in Your Stores” webinar on September 17 at 2 p.m. to hear from an expert and learn how to help.

This webinar will equip retail managers and staff with the knowledge and tools to identify potential human trafficking situations and take appropriate action. Human trafficking can occur anywhere, and store employees are uniquely positioned to serve as frontline responders in recognizing and safely responding to these situations.

Cheryl Csiky, executive director of In Our Backyard, who has led anti-trafficking efforts since 2011, will speak during the webinar. As a survivor, she brings lived experience, trauma-informed leadership and over a decade of mobilizing communities, training law enforcement and supporting survivors. Csiky has led national recovery efforts and major event operations, advocating that everyone has a role in ending human trafficking.

NACS currently works with multiple groups that fight human trafficking—including U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Safe Place Network, Truckers Against Trafficking, In Our Backyard/Convenience Stores Against Trafficking and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
