Wills Group, parent company to Dash In convenience stores and Splash In ECO Car Wash, raised more than $436,000 at its Ninth Annual Blackie Wills Golf Classic this month at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland.

“Proceeds from the event benefit the Blackie Wills Community Leadership Fund, which was created to support Wills Group’s Community Engagement Program initiative, including Nourishing Families and Children, Reimagining Outdoor Spaces and Advancing Waterways and Watersheds,” the company said.

This year’s Golf Classic brought together more than 200 golfers, including sponsors, volunteers and community leaders. This year’s proceeds will be used to address food insecurity and revitalize outdoor public spaces across the Mid-Atlantic region, while also supporting the health and sustainability of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

“All of us at Wills Group are humbled by the tremendous support of our sponsors and tournament participants as we work together to support our mission of moving people and local communities forward,” said Blackie Wills, president and CEO of Wills Group. “Together, we’re investing in stronger communities with upcoming projects including a reimagined park in Newark, Delaware, support for food banks across the Mid-Atlantic, and efforts to protect the health of the Chesapeake Bay.”

Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, Wawa employees recently assembled care packages for a local hospital.

“Year two of the Helping Hands Community Care Challenge is complete! We're proud to continue growing this program thanks to the dedication of our associate volunteers and fellow community members. This year, 85 associates came together to help assemble 30,000 care packages, spreading comfort and care to patients and families at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia,” Wawa said in a LinkedIn post.

RaceTrac also recently supported a local children’s hospital. RaceTrac team members spent time with children helping with crafts and playing games. “This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, RaceTrac was honored to team up with the Atlanta Braves to host a special away game watch party at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Patients and families lit up as they met Blooper and RaceTrac’s The Freeze, dove into arts and crafts, played wiffle ball and cheered the Braves on to victory—packing the day full of fun!” RaceTrac said in a LinkedIn post.
