Retailers Support Community Efforts

RaceTrac, Tiger Fuel Company and more recently made donations or supported charitable causes.

RaceTrac was recently a sponsor of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BCGA) Southeast Youth of the Year celebration, “where members of our team got to show their support of local standout teens being honored for their dedication to leadership, service and academic excellence,” RaceTrac posted on LinkedIn.

At the event, 16 teens shared inspiring stories, were named the Southeast Youth of the Year and the Southeast Military Youth of the Year, and each earned a $20,000 scholarship. Atlanta Dream players Te-Hina Paopao and Allisha Gray, Atlanta Falcons linebacker Jalon Walker and actor/musician Shameik Moore gave speeches and performances in support of BCGA.

Tiger Fuel Company recently concluded its May Round Up Campaign, raising $12,000 for local law enforcement agencies, Tiger said on LinkedIn.

In honor of Juneteenth this month, Wawa sponsored free admission to the African American Museum in Philadelphia and associates distributed smoothies to the community, per a LinkedIn post from the retailer.

Stewart’s Shops and the Dake Family recently made a $275,000 donation to Hudson Headwaters Health Network, according to a press release.

“Hudson Headwaters used the donation to create a teaching kitchen at its new Salem Family Health Center in Washington County. Located on county Route 64 on the site of a former family farm, the teaching kitchen offers free nutrition classes to patients and community members. The new center and kitchen opened in May,” Stewart’s said.

Citgo Petroleum Corporation recently provided financial support to several hurricane preparedness initiatives in its operational areas, including Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, per a press release. According to a study by Allstate and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, every $1 invested in resiliency can save communities $13 in avoided damages, economic disruption and cleanup costs.

This year, CITGO awarded grants of $25,000 to three local organizations.
