Weigel’s Fuels Aid for Hurricane Victims donated 8,200 gallons of fuel to assist in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in communities across Eastern Tennessee and North Carolina, according to a press release. Weigel’s said the fuel, including both diesel and unleaded, was provided to those affected by the hurricane to support emergency services, relief teams, and local residents in need.
“Due to our wonderful partners we were able to have Eagle Distributing and the Smoky Mountain Farmers Co-op bring out fuel tankers to help divide the fuel amongst multiple smaller tankers to help cater to as many communities as we can for those affected by the hurricane,” Weigel’s said.
Minuteman Food Mart donated supplies to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Bladen County Sheriff's Department “as they head west to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene,” the retailer stated in a LinkedIn post.
Minuteman Food Mart said its “mission has always been to leave people better than we found them, and we are praying for those in the western part of our great state.”
Pilot is partnering with the American Red Cross for a round-up campaign. Customers can round up in-store purchases to the nearest dollar to support the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Helene relief fund, the retailer said in a LinkedIn post.
Suppliers also joined the effort. PepsiCo sent 50,000 meals through the PepsiCo Foundation's Food for Good program to the Salvation Army and other local non-profits in North Carolina. “We are also providing $100,000 to the Salvation Army to support their response across all impacted regions, with a focus on North Carolina,” according to a press release. PepsiCo said it also is working alongside its bottling partner Pepsi Bottling Ventures to donate truckloads of water to the relief effort.
