Whole Foods will open its first Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, a small-format concept that offers grab-and-go meals and “last-minute” ingredients, this fall in New York City’s Upper East Side neighborhood. The concept was originally announced in March.
The company also announced the second future location for the Whole Foods Market Daily Shop format at 301 West 50th Street, in Hell’s Kitchen. An additional New York City location and national rollout will follow.
Ranging between 7,000 to 14,000 square feet, the quick-shop stores will be about a quarter to half the footprint of an average 40,000 square foot Whole Foods Market store and is designed to provide customers in urban neighborhoods “a quick, convenient shopping experience with easier access to … fresh, high-quality offerings,” the company said.
Whole Foods Market Daily Shop stores will feature a variety of seasonal produce, prepared foods and grocery items, “including an ample selection of fresh, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, prepared foods like sandwiches and pre-packed meals, breads, alcohol and supplements, as well as a handpicked range of local specialties and our own 365 by Whole Foods Market brand.”
Both of the newly announced New York City locations will also feature Juice & Java, a venue providing coffee, tea, fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, sandwiches, soups and desserts.
“It made perfect sense for us to launch a new store format right here [in New York],” said Jason Buechel, Whole Foods Market CEO. “Whole Foods Market Daily Shop will conveniently bring our high-quality natural and organic food to even more New York City customers.”
