Pilot recently celebrated the opening of its new travel center in Tuskegee, Alabama, located one mile from the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site. “The new location honors the legacy of these trailblazing World War II heroes,” Pilot said in an email to NACS.
The store’s design “features a replica of the original Moton Field Control Tower, in-store signage honoring the 1,578 missions flown by the Tuskegee airmen and the 850 awards the service members and their unit received, and a replica P-51 Mustang ‘Red Tail’ ceiling design—a tribute to the planes flown by these iconic pilots.”
The location was developed in partnership with the Macon County Economic Development Authority and Tuskegee University. Pilot celebrated the opening with a $20,000 donation to the Macon County Board of Education to support local students.

“Our support of childhood education is always a priority for all of us at Rutter’s,” stated Chris Hartman, VP of fuels, advertising and development at Rutter’s. “We recognize the importance of providing local organizations with much needed funding to benefit the education of the children in our communities and look forward to doing even more in 2025!”

We want to give a huge thank you to the many people that helped make this possible,” Huck’s said in a LinkedIn post.
