Kellogg’s to Roll Out Vegan Cereal

Cereal targets vegan customers and shoppers seeking “cleaner label” products.

MANCHESTER, England – Kellogg’s, the inventor of Froot Loops and Frosted Flakes, is adding a new product to its plant-based, No Added Sugar Granola line under the brand name W. K. Kellogg, reports Foodbev.com.

Targeted to vegan customers and those shopping for “cleaner label” offerings, the new cereal combines dried raspberry, apple and carrot inclusions in its ingredients, and according to Kellogg’s, it has no artificial sweeteners.

“Creating a granola with a vegetable was a balancing act,” said Sarah Bulfield, cereal inventor for Kellogg’s U.K. “All sensory aspects had to be taken into consideration: texture, color and most importantly flavor. The sweetness from the apple and the sharpness of the raspberry is all balanced with the earthiness and subtle sweet notes of the carrot pieces.”

The current W. K. Kellogg range includes No Added Sugar Granolas (apricot and pumpkin seeds/coconut cashew and almond), Organic Wholegrain Wheats (original/raisin) and a Super Grains Granola (cranberry, sultana and spelt). The new cereal will be released in the U.K. later this year. There is no word currently on when it will be available in North America.
