TAIPEI – Taiwan 7-Eleven has started a trial of a dual-branded location with Domino’s Pizza in the Xinyi District, Inside Retail Asia reports. President Chain Store Corp, which operates Taiwan 7-Eleven, is running the test.

The company is the first convenience store in Taiwan to stock fresh-cooked pizza alongside groceries and other c-stores staples. If the trial is a success, the company will likely roll it out to other locations. At the store, customers can view how the pizzas are made.

This is the latest attempt by President Chain Store to connect with busy working people in the country’s capital city’s upscale areas. The company said it hopes selling pizza will also boost sales of ancillary products, like other meal items and drinks.

Taiwan has the second-highest convenience-store market penetration in the world, behind South Korea and Japan. Operators are constantly trying new things to grow their businesses. Taiwan FamilyMart has partnerships with businesses to bring catering, health foods, laundry services and financial services to its customers.
