ALTOONA, Pa. – Beginning this month, Sheetz will hold open interviews for both full and part-time positions at all locations. The hiring initiative will create and fill jobs at stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. Reports say that there are nearly 500 openings in its Virginia stores, about 140 in Maryland and 550 in North Carolina.

Headquartered in Pennsylvania, Sheetz made Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in America at No. 66 and offers benefits with 401(k) plans, tuition assistance and an employee stock ownership plan option.

Just last month, c-store chain Wawa launched its annual spring hiring plan. The East Coast store is looking to fill 5,000 new positions within the next three months through “Wawa Career Wednesday” events.

Both companies are testing fuel-free locations that offer food but no gas. Wawa launched its first “urban-style store” in Philadelphia in 2015 and recently opened its first location in Washington, D.C.
