SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Online dating site eHarmony is venturing into the world of job seekers.

According to The Washington Post, the company is expanding to become more than just a dating site by becoming a relationship-minded company. The new careers platform — Elevated Careers by eHarmony — is expected to launch by December.

"Matching people for careers is about an $80 billion business," Neil Clark Warren, CEO of eHarmony, told the newspaper, adding, "Matching people for marriage — while very, very important — is a $2.5 billion business. So we are looking to increase the size of our business."

The new service, writes the Washington Post, will try to match applicants with jobs based on four different criteria: cultural fit, job skill set, personality traits of direct supervisors and traits of colleagues.

“If we can match people for marriage, perhaps our matching skills would also work in terms of matching people for jobs,” Warren told Employee Benefit News, adding that the company’s career matchmaking effort dates back nearly three years.

“We came to the conclusion that [personal] relationships are very connected with [work] relationships,” he continued. “In other words, if a person has a job that he or she is not happy with, and comes home every night discouraged and frustrated, they are going to have tough time having a marriage that really scintillates and is satisfying.”
