Senate Action Necessary on Estate Tax

NACS is urging the Senate to take up estate tax reform before the year ends.

July 20, 2010

WASHINGTON - Tensions are running high in the Senate as pressure mounts across the country for swift action ?" action that would prevent estate tax reform from expiring at year??s end.

NACS has delivered a letter to the Senate requesting immediate consideration of Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Joh Kyl??s (R -AZ) bipartisan permanent federal estate tax reform bill, which would reduce the maximum tax rate to 35 percent and increase the exemption level to $5 million.

NACS believes that the estate tax is inherently unfair and should be permanently repealed. However, given current conditions, the Lincoln-Kyl proposal represents the best alternative for business owners and the federal government.

We urge all NACS members to go to nacsonline.com/grassroots and send their senators a letter asking them to take immediate action to protect family-owned businesses.
