Ready for OSHA’s New Hazard Communication Standard?

By December 1, 2013, all employers utilizing hazardous chemicals at their worksite will be required to have trained employees on new label elements and the SDS format.

WASHINGTON – As part of its 2012 Global Harmonization Standard (GHS) that includes changes to its Hazard Communication Standard, all employers utilizing hazardous chemicals at their worksite will be required to train employees on the new “Safety Data Sheets” (SDS) by December 1, 2013. 

To prepare for those changes, Fisher & Phillips LLP held a free webinar that addressed the following topics:

  • The requirement of the new GHS and HazCom 2012 at a high level, with specific focus on the GHS changes and employer training obligations
  • How to understand and review the new Safety Data Sheets
  • OSHA’s training expectations for meeting the December 1, 2013 deadline
  • Strategies for meeting all HazCom 2012 deadlines while maintaining compliance and avoiding the risk of potential OSHA citations and penalties
