MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Kwik-E-Mart has jumped from the small screen to real life in a store by the same name in Myrtle Beach, S.C., WBTW-TV reports. The real-life version of the famous convenience store featured in “The Simpsons” opened its doors recently with Squishees, Heat Lamp Hot Dogs, Lard Lad Donuts and Duff-branded energy drinks. Catchphrases from the long-running animated television series are painted on the wall, and customers also can buy “Simpsons”-related memorabilia.

“Broadway at the Beach is like no other location,” said Mark Cornell, senior vice president of attractions development for SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment. “It really draws a lot of foot traffic walking around, and I really think that it’s the perfect first place. I think the Simpsons would come to Myrtle Beach for a vacation.”

The first visitors to the Kwik-E-Mart were huge “Simpsons” fans. “A 64-year-old grandmother, her son and daughter-in-law, and their three children,” Cornell said. “They were all sort of arguing about who were stronger fans, but to see three generations walk through the door that all love The Simpsons, how can you say that about anything else?”

Cornell said the store took four years of planning. The store is beside a “Simpsons”-themed Aztec Theater slated to open before the end of the year.
