SACRAMENTO – A name can pack a lot of information into it, and having the right name is essential to being an effective market leader. That’s why the California Independent Oil Marketers Association has changed its name to the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance (CFCA)—to highlight the focus on gas stations and convenience stores, Oil Price Information Service reports.

“This new brand will better help the public and governmental regulators understand the different sectors within the complex fuel supply chain and distinguish our members from the refiners,” said Ryan Hanretty, executive director of CFCA, in a statement.

Members of the trade association include independent wholesale and retail marketers of gasoline, diesel, lubricating oils and other petroleum products; transporters of those products; and retail convenience store operators. The vast majority of its members are small-business owners representing about a quarter of California’s 10,000 service stations.

CFCA organizes the yearly Pacific Oil Conference, scheduled for September 4–6 in Los Angeles.
