SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. – Any day of the week, those who need a place to cleanup, rest or sleep can stop by the Mobile gas station in Santa Fe Springs. The retailer invites the local homeless community to visit his station because he cares about them, Good News Network reports.

A customer told the Good News Network about the retailer, who apparently didn’t want to be interviewed for the story. Pilar Love saw firsthand the compassion of the owner when she stopped by one day.

“I went to go visit this Mobil station bathroom and the person who was inside the restroom was taking a long time,” Love said. “The owner then came over to me and said ‘Oh, I think there might be a homeless person in there washing up in the sink.’”

Intrigued, she asked the owner further questions, and learned the retailer regularly allowed those less fortunate to use his facilities. “Because it’s been raining a lot lately, he had been letting them sleep right at the facilities,” Love said. “I can’t imagine many shop owners would do that, many people so often ignore homelessness and this man is opening up his heart to them.”

Love often stops by the store and talks with the owner, who has kept on with his policy of letting homeless men and women use his facilities. “It just seems really rare to me for someone to be giving the same respect to someone who wasn’t a paying customer,” Love said.
