USA Gold Introduces New Packaging

Innovative “Glide Tec” package highlights American pride and ingenuity.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Selected markets will soon see a new look for USA Gold, when its new “Glide Tec” packaging hits shelves. According to Commonwealth-Altadis Inc. (CA), the ingenious new Glide Tec packaging reflects a functionality that is as simple as “slide up, light up.”

“Available to wholesalers and retailers beginning in April in four key lead markets, the new packaging advancement highlights USA Gold’s American heritage and American pride,” said Al Dejewski, CA’s senior vice president consumer marketing, in a press release. The colors of the American flag are front and center on the USA Gold Glide Tec pack and the lid opens with a simple slide of the thumb.

Response to the new packaging has been overwhelmingly positive, Dejewski notes. “Adult smokers are surprised by the high tech application and like ‘raising the flag’ — and the convenience.”

USA Gold is manufactured at the company’s Reidsville, N.C. factory with tobacco grown in Kentucky, North Carolina and other areas. CA is promoting the new USA Gold Glide Tec packaging through fully integrated marketing plans, part of a larger ongoing brand rejuvenation.
