Fresh Fruits, Vegetables Bring Shoppers Inside

A United Fresh Produce Association report found that having a fresh perimeter is key to drawing shoppers into stores.

WASHINGTON – Providing shoppers with fresh fruits and vegetables does more than keep them healthy—it brings customers inside your store, Progressive Grocer reports. The United Fresh Produce Association’s Q3 2017 edition of the “FreshFacts on Retail” report found that having a fresh perimeter is key to getting shoppers in the door, even as more grocery retailers branch out into online ordering and delivery.

“Health and convenience are both key factors in the rise of new products in the produce department,” said Jeff Oberman, vice president of trade relations for the United Fresh Produce Association. “From kits to veggie noodles, we expect continued growth and expansion of fresh-cut and value-added products, both in private label and branded produce.”
