LONDON
– Want to get a snack after yoga class? Want to fill up your mason jar with
olive oil on your way home from work?
Eat
17 opened its fifth store in Hammersmith, London, earlier this month after
success at other locations such as Hackney, Hertfordshire, Kent and
Walthamstow. According to its website,
the company is “not your average store” and is “dedicated to doing things the
right way; thinking local, prioritizing people before profit, taking great
pride in our work and, most of all, putting proper food on your plate.”
The
chain has its own branded products, including Bacon Jam and fresh bakery items,
sharing space with “everyday essentials and local concession ranges.” The new
location offers more than 100 refillable lines with cereals, nuts and olive oil
so customers can fill up their own containers and cut down on plastic storage
waste.
In
addition to offering grab-and-go snack and food items, the store features an
indoor street food market with local chefs offering fresh food. Customers also can
fill up their own coffee, wine and beer growlers. And yoga classes will take
place in the 2,000 square foot mezzanine room.
“We
aim to provide an eco-friendly shopping experience, and our 100 refillable food
lines are very popular with customers who wish to cut down on their plastic
use,” says James Brundle, co-founder of Eat 17. “The indoor street food market
dining concept has proven to be a hit in our Bishop’s Stortford store and we
expect the reception to be just as positive” in Hammersmith, he said.
