TALLAHASSEE, FL - Florida lottery officials are giving its system a technological makeover, launching a mobile app, a new website, and Facebook and Twitter pages, a collective effort at increasing revenue, News-Press.com reports.

Statewide lottery sales increased last year to $4 billion, the third-best year in the lottery??s history, according to Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O??Connell. And with the upcoming changes, O??Connell is planning for $4.25 billion this year.

"The trend is moving in the right direction," she said, adding that the technological improvements are being implemented to keep the games relevant. "A lot has changed since the lottery started up in 1988."

The new mobile app is scheduled to launch in the next few months and the new website design should be finished by fall. The app will include the lottery??s most popular features, such as jackpot information and winning numbers. The website will have a new design as well as a more user-friendly navigation.
