LONDON – Carrefour Group and Reitan Convenience Norway AS were honored June 6 during the NACS Convenience Summit Europe awards dinner in London with the European Convenience Retail Sustainability Award and the European Convenience Retail Technology Award, respectively.

The European Convenience Retail Sustainability Award, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Co., recognizes Carrefour Group for its outstanding pursuit of a significant and compelling sustainability initiative that has significantly improved commercial performance, competitiveness, customer perception, staff engagement and prospects for continued financial strength.

Carrefour Group incorporates sustainable development-related objectives into its businesses and across its entire value chain, including purchasing, logistics, quality control, store management and property. Its actions are built around three main priorities: combating all forms of waste, protecting biodiversity and helping stakeholders adopt a more responsible approach. In addition, Carrefour Group is one of 16 retailers and three cooperative associations that are members of the European Commission’s Retailers’ Environmental Action Programme.

The European Convenience Retail Technology Award, sponsored by Verifone Inc., honors a convenience retailing company that has pursued a significant and compelling technology initiative. First introduced in 2015, the award recognizes retail companies that are making far-sighted, long-term investments in technology innovation, keeping retailers convenient and hassle-free for customers.

Reitan Convenience Norway AS was recognized for its adoption of a more scientific and disciplined, data-driven approach to pricing that makes use of key value item analysis as well as store cluster analysis. This smart pricing solution helps the retailer understand customer reaction to price changes, set prices according to shopper and competitor behavior, automate pricing rules based on its strategy, forecast and measure pricing effectiveness.

The NACS Convenience Summit Europe brings together convenience and fuel retailing industry professionals from around the world for new knowledge, new commercial connections and networking, and the opportunity to discover and discuss new ideas from retail store tours. A highlight of the event is the prestigious International Convenience Retail Awards program, now in its 10th year, that recognizes and promotes convenience retailing excellence.
