OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL - Kroger, Pepsi and Redbox have partnered to bring consumers a "Make it a Movie Night" promotion, Marketing Daily reports. When shoppers purchase at least three Frito-Lay or Pepsi products, they will receive a free movie rental through a Redbox DVD kiosk.

This cross-promotion is "unique in that it is a 52-week program and involves multiple brands. In addition, given the duration and large number of participating stores, this promotion is setting the bar at Redbox," said a Redbox spokesperson.

Redbox believes that "rewarding consumers with a free rental code is a great way to encourage trial as well as build loyalty with our existing customers," said the spokesperson. "We believe that once consumers have had an opportunity to experience the value and convenience of Redbox, they will continue to visit our kiosks."

The promotion will be advertised via in-store signage in the soda, snack, confection and popcorn aisles of participating Kroger locations. Recently, Redbox experienced a 70.1 percent increase in DVD rental revenues.
