WASHINGTON, D.C. ?" On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that he will seek to call up a vote on an amendment by Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Bob Corker (R-TN) to delay implementation of rules to limit the swipe fees that banks extract from merchants for debit card purchases.
Although it is unclear as to which underlying piece of legislation Reid will allow the amendment to be offered, the vote could come any time after June 6 when the Senate returns from recess.
Consequently, it is of utmost importance for you to meet with your senators during the upcoming Memorial Day recess and urge a NO VOTE on any legislation offered to delay implementation of debit card swipe fee reform.
