NEW YORK – Patrick Dempsey, known as McDreamy on ABC’s hit
show “Grey’s Anatomy,” is also the owner of Global Baristas LLC, which recently
purchased Tully’s Coffee, outbidding Starbucks in the process.
So as he sets his sights on the coffeehouse business, he has
some ideas about what else to sell along side lattes and mochas.
“Coffee is good for your mind — it's basically a legalized
drug. The next step is selling marijuana, of course,” he told Bon Appetit,
adding, “There's a business model there. You could present it in a beautiful,
elegant way: a Michelin-starred coffee shop where you can get marijuana.”
Dempsey said he wants to resuscitate Tully’s, which filed
for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2012 before his company bought
it, reports AZCentral.com.
“I want to bring Tully's back to life…Neighborhood coffee
shops are an important part of people's lives — it's a part of your everyday
ritual. I want to become a certified barista and work in the stores.”
