SEATTLE – McDonald’s edged
out Walmart to claim the top spot as the most-visited business in America,
according to “The State of Place,” a new report from Placed Insights. Subway
claimed the third spot. Restaurants grabbed six of the top 10 slots on the
survey.
The inaugural ranking of
the top businesses is based on the percent of the U.S. population that
frequented these brick-and-mortar destinations in March. The results found that
McDonald’s led all businesses with nearly half of Americans age 14 and older
visiting the quick-service restaurant in that month.
Nearly 40% of consumers
visited Walmart during the month, reaching nearly three times as many visitors
as Target, which took the number 10 spot. Burger King and Starbucks attracted
one in four consumers in the number four and number five slots.
“March also saw a
resurgence in dining out with restaurants dominating nearly half of the
top-gaining categories for the month,” the report stated.

3. Subway, 37.8%
4. Burger King, 24.3%
5. Starbucks, 23.9%
6. Wendy’s, 22.8%
7. Walgreens, 22.7%
8. CVS, 18.9%
9. Taco Bell, 18.2%
10. Target, 14.2%
