MCLEAN, Va. – USA Today reports that Taco Bell is announcing its largest-ever expansion of its beverage menu, featuring three carbonated and three non-carbonated beverages.

The news source adds that it’s rare for a QSR to introduce six new drinks at once (two or three is the norm).

"We asked ourselves: Why can't we make our beverages as crave-able as our food?" Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell, told the news source. "That's been our mission for the past 18 months."

New flavors include fruit-infused Mountain Dew Sangrita Blast, which will be available only at Taco Bell. Other new offerings are: Manzanita Sol (an apple-flavored, carbonated drink); Diet Mountain Dew Baja Blast; SoBe Lifewater Yumberry Pomegranate; Brisk Mango iced tea and Brisk Half and Half (half tea, half lemonade.)

With a focus on Millennials, who seek out more creative — and healthy — carbonated and non-carbonated drinks, according to USA Today, Taco Bell is hoping to make an impact with its new beverages. The move could also attract new customers during off-peak hours — similar to a strategy used by Sonic.
