Parker’s Kitchen has donated $100,000 to Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in Savannah, Georgia. The check was presented at a ceremony on November 14.
“We’re incredibly proud to be headquartered in Savannah and recognize that by investing in education, we’re supporting the growth of future leaders right here in our community,” said Parker’s founder and CEO Greg Parker. “The Parker’s Kitchen Fueling the Community program underscores our longtime commitment to education, which is truly the tide that lifts all ships.”
The donation is a part of a history of giving by Parker’s Kitchen. According to the press release, “In September, the company made a landmark $1 million donation to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia to feed hungry children across the region, including Chatham County. Through the Parker’s Community Fund, the company also provided critical funding for Union Mission to open the Parker House for Women in Savannah, Georgia, the region’s first facility for unaccompanied homeless women, and made a $5 million donation to Roper/St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, South Carolina to support uninsured and underinsured residents. The company also made a record $5 million donation, to name the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University and endowed the Parker’s Emergency and Trauma Center at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
In other giving news, Richmond, Virginia-based convenience store operator GPM Investments LLC, has partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for a holiday retail campaign at 1,534 locations around the United States from November 15 through December 17. Customers who want to donate can do so by “purchasing a $1 or $5 pinup or rounding up their purchase. Each pinup offers a coupon for buy one, get one free 20 oz 7 Up or Canada Dry product and buy one, get one free 1.76 oz Hi-Chew stick,” according to the press release. Donations can also be made online here.
