NACS Show to Also Feature Industry Awards and Recognition


LAS VEGAS — The NACS Show is where the convenience and fuel retailing industry comes together to learn new ideas, connect with peers and celebrate accomplishments within the industry. Several notable industry awards were presented this week.

Convenience Store Decisions’ Chain of the Year Award (Kwik Trip Inc.)
For 29 years, Convenience Store Decisions’ Chain of the Year award annually honors a convenience store or petroleum chain that has established itself as a superior retailer and innovator in its markets of operation. For 2018, the Chain of the Year award was presented to Kwik Trip on October 8.

Winsight’s CSP Retail Leader of the Year (Kyle Krause, Kum & Go)
Winsight’s CSP magazine honored one of the industry’s leading family-run convenience chains by naming Kyle Krause, chairman and CEO of Kum & Go, as its 2018 Retail Leader of the Year.

The award has a 16-year legacy for recognizing convenience-retailing executives for their excellence in leadership, innovation and perseverance within his or her company, positively transforming the organization to new and higher levels. The award ceremony took place October 9.

Convenience Store News Foodservice Innovators of the Year
Convenience Store News
presented its seventh annual Foodservice Innovators of the Year awards in its NACS Show expo booth. Winners were recognized for raising the bar on quality, service and innovation in the fast-growing and critically important foodservice category in the convenience channel. This year’s awardees were:

  • Foodservice Innovator of the Year: Rutter’s
  • Prepared Foods Innovator of the Year: Maverik Inc.
  • Hot Beverages Innovator of the Year: 7-Eleven Inc.
  • Cold & Frozen Beverages Innovator of the Year: Circle K
  • Best New Foodservice Offering of the Year: BP/ampm
  • Foodservice Innovator to Watch: Dash In/The Wills Group
The magazine also presented its fifth annual Top Women in Convenience awards, which recognize the integral role women play in convenience retailing. This year’s awardees were:
  • Dawn Gillis, 7-Eleven Inc.
  • Laura Aufleger, OnCue Marketing LLC
  • Line Aarnes, Circle K/ Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.
  • Maura Scott, Altria Group Distribution Company
  • Missy Mathews, Double Kwik/Childers Oil Co.

Earlier this year, NACS presented its 2018 NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year Award to Ireland’s Fresh the Good Food Market (Dublin, Ireland). The award was presented during the NACS Convenience Summit Europe in London at this year’s NACS European Convenience Retail Awards gala on June 6. Fresh the Good Food Market is one of eight companies featured in this year’s Ideas 2 Go video presentation that NACS will debut on October 9.
