ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NACS, in partnership with First Data’s Money Network and MasterCard, has launched a national payroll card program for its membership, their vendors and other employers seeking to better serve their unbanked, under-banked and bank fee-weary employees.

“We are truly excited about this offer to the more than 2 million hard-working employees serving our industry, as well as those employees of our trading partners,” said Henry Armour, President and CEO of NACS. “In a time where the cost of simple retail banking is escalating at an incredible rate through service charges and NSF fees, this program will prove to be a great benefit for employers in the convenience and fuel retailing industry to offer their employees.”

The NACS Payroll Card Program enables employers in all 50 states to provide 100% electronic pay while reducing the costs of issuing and administering paper checks for all employees, including those without a bank account or those who opt out of direct deposit. Money Network Cards are accepted at 40,000 surcharge-free ATMs and merchant locations that accept MasterCard, nationwide.

The program will offer a full suite of services aimed at reducing the cost of financial services, including:

  • No POS fees for all purchases—PIN or signature
  • No-charge account loading and off-loading of paychecks, eliminating check cashing fees and related inconvenience
  • No overdrafts and related fees, and available transaction and balance texting
  • Free mobile app to track balances, spending and budgeting
  • Free online bill payment and check writing, for when cash isn’t convenient and cards aren’t accepted
