Vindi Opens Its Doors in Costa Rica

The new brand of convenience stores by Auto Mercado is expected to compete with FreshWay and am/pm stores.

SAN JOSE - Auto Mercado is launching a new brand of convenience stores, Vindi, in Costa Rica.

The first Vindi store is located in a residential neighborhood in Heredia, reports Inside Costa Rica. Guillermo Alonso García, project manager at Auto Mercado, told the news source that the new convenience store concept is an extension of the company??s more than 50 years of experience in the supermarket format.

The new convenience store is expected to compete directly with FreshWay and am/pm stores, according to García, by offering a wider range of products.

Auto Mercado is planning to open six Vindi stores by the end of the year, each costing an average of $300,000 (U.S.).

The convenience store will focus on the Auto Mercado tradition of freshness and quality products, including a variety of exclusive imported products.

García added that Vindi will offer a unique shopping experience in the convenience market sector.
