SMYRNA, Tenn. – A recent profile in The Tennessean describes the family behind Nashville-based Hunt Brothers Pizza, a NACS Hunter Club member whose crusty creations are prepared and sold in more than 7,000 convenience stores and specialty locations nationwide.

The namesake brothers — Charlie, Jim, Lonnie and Don — have been in the pizza business pizza for more than 40 years, although the Hunt Brothers brand wasn’t started until the early 1990s. In 1992 they were joined by Don's son Britt, who founded the Britt Hunt Co., to serve as a primary distributor for Hunt Brothers pizza.

With a strong foothold in the Southeast and Midwest, particularly in rural areas where the large national pizza chains don’t have a presence, Hunt Brothers is focused on expanding their operations and customer base, particularly in the Northeast and West. They see convenience store operators are the key targets for this expansion as the stores look to profits through high-margin foodservice sales.

NACS Magazine interviewed Jim, Lonnie and Don Hunt for a March 2006 “Leadership Profile” feature, saying at the time: “We believe that in the long run, we’ll have one of the best pizza concepts and the best service out there.”
