MANCHESTER, U.K. – Last week, U.K. bakery chain Greggs opened its first drive-thru in Britain, reports the Manchester Evening News. The bakery chain said it caved to popular demand on Twitter from customers who wanted Greggs to open a drive-thru concept.

The drive-thru opened on June 5 and will be open to customers from 6 am to 9 pm Monday-Friday, 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. The menu includes popular classics offered by Greggs, including steak bakes and sausage rolls, as well as sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and buns. The bakery’s new Balanced Choice range of healthier sandwiches, salads and soups (all under 400 calories) will also be available at the drive-thru.

“When it comes to food on-the- go, our customers tell us that convenience is key. We’ve been working hard to take Greggs to where our customers need and want us to be, including office parks, industrial estates, retail parks and travel hubs,” said Roger Whiteside, CEO of Greggs. “A drive thru offers the ultimate convenience and seemed the logical next step for us to take. This is a first for Greggs and we are excited to trial the concept in Irlam, Manchester.”
