CORONA, Calif. – Monster Beverage Corp. has plans beyond its core energy drinks, Food Business News reports. The is planning to launch products that don’t fit the traditional energy drink mold, including Hydro, a non-carbonated energy beverage, and White Lightening, a no-calorie carbonated soda.

“We have a robust innovation pipeline and further launches such as Mango Loca, a new flavor in our Monster Energy juice family, which is planned for a third quarter 2017 launch, and the new X-Presso Monster Energy drink in 8-ounce slim cans in two flavors planned for launch before year-end,” Rodney Sacks, chairman and CEO, said.

International market expansions boosted Monster Beverage’s first quarter despite an overall soft category. “Sales continue to be challenging in the beverage industry in the first quarter and remain weak,” Sacks said.

Net sales for the company’s Monster Energy Drinks line rose 7.5% to reach $668.6 million during the year’s first quarter. The company will increase distribution of Mutant (which debuted in September) in the United States, as well as international markets. Mutant is the company’s first non-energy beverage. “We remain confident about the potential of this brand,” Sacks said.
