ALEXANDRIA, Va. – On this week’s episode of Convenience Matters, “Slow Evolution of Fuels Market Expected,” NACS hosts Jeff Lenard, vice president of strategic industry initiatives, and John Eichberger, executive director for the Fuels Institute, talk about Eichberger’s recent testimony on the fuels retail market.

Last month, Eichberger testified before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee about where the fuels market is headed. The highly attended session focused on the current research that is “leading us to anticipate where the transportation system might be in 15 to 20 years,” Eichberger said. “Are we going to have a quick rush of electric vehicles? Is there going to be disruptive change?”

Committee members are interested in this topic because “they want to understand where mobility is going. They want to understand what their constituents have to expect in terms of electrification, gasoline supply and demand, internal combustion engine, and what cars will be on the road,” Eichberger explained.

The one thing Eichberger wanted the committee to understand is that “the market’s going to change but it’s going to change slowly. Headlines make you think disruption is here, … but it takes a very long time to make changes. We have a long transition time ahead of us.”

Each week a new Convenience Matters  episode is released. The weekly podcast can be downloaded on iTunes, Google Play Music and Stitcher and at www.conveniencematters.com. Episodes have been downloaded by listeners more than 39,000 times in more than 95 countries.
