ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Kum & Go has launched its new, fresh food menu at stores in Des Moines and the surrounding metro area. The new menu was piloted in 2021 in its Little Rock, Arkansas, and Omaha, Nebraska, markets. The new, fresh, made-to-order menu will be available at all Kum & Go stores in Des Moines and the surrounding area by the end of the year.

“The goal of our new menu is to further support Kum & Go’s initiative on ‘democratizing healthy’ within the convenience space. We strive to give our customers something different including healthier, better-quality options in the food space without sacrificing quality and speed of service which is true to our convenience roots,” said Jac Moskalik, Kum & Go vice president of food innovation. “We have certainly challenged the perceived norm of convenience store prepared food and are excited for what the future holds.”

Rallied around “Real, Fresh, Fast Eats,” the new made-to-order meu features stackers and bowls for all dayparts. Menu items feature premium ingredients and fresh toppings and sauces. Grab-and-go burritos are also available for customers with time constraints. Old favorites including pizza and bakery items remain on the menu as well and continue to be focus areas for future innovation and enhancements.

“We are setting up ingredient quality standards you wouldn’t normally expect to find in the convenience store space in addition to ingredients you wouldn’t expect such as brown rice and spinach bowl bases,” said Natasha Ratzlaff, Kum & Go director of category management. “Although we do still bring in fun convenience store flair through creative toppings such as Takis on our mango pork stacker and Corn Nuts on the chimi chicken bowl.”

Kum & Go will continue to roll out its refreshed brand and new food program across its entire footprint over the next several years. Here is the full menu.

Also, following last year’s rebrand, TXB is continuing to build its Texas-born identity by launching its newest LTOs for the holiday season, available from October 1 until the end of December.

TXB crafted four menu items for customers to enjoy all season long, including

  • Pizza’Dilla: $5.50
  • NEW Sliders: 2 for $5 or $2.75 each
    • BBQ Chicken Slider
    • Buffalo Chicken Slide
    • Boom-Boom Pork Slider
  • Tamales: $1 each
  • White Chocolate Pumpkin Pecan Cookies: Dozen $9.99; or $1.99 each

“These hearty, on-the-go meals aren’t your typical convenience store offerings, as TXB strives to provide guests with elevated convenient fresh meals that directly compete with restaurant-quality menu items,” TXB said in a statement.

The new menu items are part of the brand's larger initiative to “Leave em’ Better” by sourcing delicious, locally sourced ingredients from around Texas. The company announced the roll out of a new line of private-label food, drinks and apparel in all TXB markets.

Meanwhile, 7-Eleven is inviting 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members to celebrate National Taco Day  on October 4 with 10 mini tacos for $2 at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores. The crispy, crunchy tacos have a spicy beef filling made from shredded beef, green chiles, jalapeño peppers, cilantro, spices and other flavors stuffed into miniature crispy corn tortillas.

“7-Eleven is here to shell out the good times and appreciate the little things in life, like miniature food items and National Taco Day," said Vareesha Shariff, 7-Eleven senior director of hot food. "We love showing appreciation for our customers by providing value in creative ways—like celebrating a fan-favorite holiday with this tasty bite-sized snack.”
