BOSTON—7-Eleven has partnered with alcohol delivery platform Drizly to deliver alcohol from over 1,200 7-Eleven stores in the U.S. in under an hour. The move broadens the customer base of the Texas-based retailer for alcohol delivery services, plus other convenience items.

7-Eleven successfully tested the Drizly program in 190 stores, and now it’s expanding it to locations in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Plans to expand the program to 2,000 stores are in the works for the coming months.

"We are constantly looking for ways to give our customers the most convenient and seamless shopping experience possible," said Raghu Mahadevan, senior vice president and chief digital officer at 7-Eleven. "Drizly is helping us get one step closer to this goal. We are proud to roll out this collaboration to additional store locations nationwide, adding to our existing alcohol delivery footprint and further showcasing our wide selection of adult beverages for customers to enjoy from the comfort of their homes."

This fall, 7-Eleven paired up with Minibar Delivery to provide on-demand alcohol delivery in more than 50 U.S. cities in select markets in Florida, Texas and Virginia.

7-Eleven customers can order alcohol via the Drizly app or Drizly.com. They can also purchase non-alcoholic items for delivery with their booze via 7-Eleven’s 7NOW or Uber Eats apps. 7NOW is available throughout the U.S. and offers real-time tracking that lets customers know when to expect their orders, typically in 30 minutes.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with the nation's leading convenience retailer to further our mission of being the go-to place for people to shop alcohol," said Cathy Lewenberg, chief operating officer at Drizly. "Drizly offers customers the most convenient way to browse and buy the best selection of beer, wine and spirits online, and collaborating with 7-Eleven expands the ease of our on-demand alcohol delivery to new markets and regions across North America."

Drizly has partnered with 5,500 retailers nationwide to deliver alcohol to customers.

The e-commerce of alcohol lifts sales and attracts new customers, according to a March 2021 NACS Magazine feature. For more on alcohol delivery and how c-stores can get started in the profitable business, read “Cheers to Home Delivery.”
