Snacks on C-Store Shelves

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—From doughnuts to fish and energy drinks, c-stores and suppliers are not pulling any stops in getting customers what they’re craving.

Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven is bringing in a new, tasty snack just in time for spring— freshly caught wild Alaskan pollock fish bites. According to a company news release, the limited-edition offering includes five bite-sized morsels of herb panko-crusted Alaskan pollock filets served on a skewer with a side of tartar sauce for dipping.

The fish bites were created for customers who want a meat alternative during the Lenten season, and they will be available at participating U.S. stores while supplies last. Recently, 7-Eleven’s Laredo Taco Company also began offering new deals for free shrimp diabla tacos every Friday during Lent.

Meanwhile, once just a breakfast staple, donuts now are an all-day treat, according to Datassential, and Rich Products of Buffalo, New York, has introduced ready-to-finish filled dessert donuts and jumbo-filled donut bites made to be consumed during all dayparts at convenience stores.

The new turnkey portfolio is available with or without toppings so c-stores can serve them with provided toppings or decorate them in customized themes. The prep is as easy as thaw, bake, top and serve, and the result is a fresh-baked aroma throughout the store.

The filled donut line from Rich’s is available in four varieties: banana cream pie, fudge brownie, Neapolitan and apple pie. The jumbo-filled donut bites line includes two varieties: French toast and birthday cake.

Wawa convenience stores, of Wawa, Pennsylvania, is also giving consumers a new drink for the daypart with the launch of JOCKO GO energy drinks, a low-calorie, keto-friendly beverage that provides clean energy with less caffeine for a healthier.

The beverage is named for Jocko Willink, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL officer; New York Times bestselling author; host of the top-rated Jocko Podcast and a co-founder of Jocko Fuel.

Available in ready-to-drink cans, JOCKO GO is sweetened with all-natural monk fruit and appeals to consumers seeking natural ingredients. Flavors include Dak Savage cherry vanilla, signature Jocko Pom'r sweet tea and lemonade, sour apple sniper, afterburner orange and tropic thunder (a pineapple coconut flavor) and citrus psycho, a lemon-lime flavor.
