SAN FRANCISCO—DoorDash has released its third annual Deep Dish Report, which identifies popular food trends across the globe, among other new trends.
“This year customers discovered new snacking and convenience moments and experiences, and we all know every moment pairs well with a good snack,” writes DoorDash.
According to the report, ice cream was the most popular ordered item for late-night snackers. Here’s is DoorDash’s list of top convenience items:
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice cream
- Lemon-Lime Soda
- Mac and Cheese Bites
- Peanut Butter Cups
- Energy Drink
- Sour Cream & Onion Potato Chips
- Sour Gummy Worms
- Beef Jerky
- Frosted Mini Donuts
- Pickle Bites
“As people work from home more than ever, we’ve seen a rise in online grocery shopping, which provides a convenient way to get groceries whether stocking up for the week or getting that one ingredient you always seem to forget,” writes DoorDash.
According to the report, Saturday was the most popular day to get groceries, with most orders coming in around dinner time. Produce and pantry staples topped users’ grocery lists, with people stocking up on items like strawberries, sour cream, bread, bananas, avocado, roma tomatoes, milk and eggs.
When it comes to alcohol delivery, the top wines included Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Prosecco, and the top spirits were Casamigos tequila, Tito’s Vodka and Hennessy Cognac.
The top five ordered items in 2021 for DoorDash users were:
