ATLANTA—With only cardboard cut-outs in the stands at Truist Park this season, Atlanta Braves fans are missing all the in-game excitement. But Atlanta-based RaceTrac stores are bringing the thrill of competition back to the fans with an augmented reality (AR) “Beat The Freeze” Instagram Filter. And now, any fan can “Race The Freeze” right from their phone, reports Major League Baseball.
The Freeze is the Braves’ masked mascot, who races fans in the outfield during the game. Fans who win the race—and there haven’t been many—win a cash prize. The Instagram filter, available through Instagram Stories, now lets Atlanta Braves fans virtually race The Freeze for free merchandise, such as Freeze-themed posters, t-shirts and more. Fans even have the chance to win free Swirl World frozen treat coupons, all from the comfort and safety of their homes (or phones). On mobile devices, fans can preview the filter here.
“RaceTrac is known for having Whatever Gets You Going, and we know that now more than ever, people are looking for something to get them going—something to cheer on and be a part of,” said Jamie Miller, executive director of marketing, RaceTrac. “We are thrilled to bring RaceTrac’s Beat the Freeze race to fans’ phones to bring excitement back into their lives at a time when we could all use a pick-me-up.”
Fans also have an opportunity to engage with The Freeze on social media and may even see their own racing clip on The Freeze’s or RaceTrac’s Instagram, Facebook or Twitter accounts.
