WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Ghouls seeking flavorful Halloween goodies can find them at the nearest Krispy Kreme doughnut store, according to QSR magazine. Participating locations are offering a wide selection of brightly colored doughnuts, some decorated with candies and sprinkles, now through Oct. 31.
One new offering—the Trick-or-Treat Doughnut—features an original glazed doughnut dipped and drizzled in salted caramel and finished with a topping of popular chocolate candies. Another novel creation is the Monster Batter Doughnut, with slime green icing on the outside and classic cake batter inside. Monster eyes and festive confetti sprinkles complete the look. These two new doughnuts join two proven Krispy Kreme Halloween favorites: the Jack-O-Lantern Doughnut and the Chocolate Iced Doughnut with a dusting of Halloween sprinkles.
On Oct. 31, trick-or-treaters who come to Krispy Kreme in costume will receive a free doughnut of their choice.
Other doughnut retailers are embracing the holiday spirit as well. Dunkin’ is offering Halloween-inspired Spider Donut for its second year, USA Today reports. Dunkin’ describes it as a “creepy, crawly, classic donut frosted with orange icing and topped with a sweet-never-scary eight-legged donut creature.”
Other Dunkin’ sweets are also dressed up with Halloween colors. The Oreo Donut, available into November, is “filled with vanilla buttercreme, topped with chocolate icing, dipped into a crumbled Oreo cookie topping and drizzled with dark orange icing.”
