Privacy Policy

NACS has prepared this Privacy Policy to describe the types of information collected through its Website, www.convenience.org, and affiliated Websites (e.g., www.nacsshow.com, www.nacsmagazine.com). This policy underscores our commitment to protecting your privacy and governs our data collection, processing and usage practices. It also describes your choices regarding use, access and changes to your personal information in the sections below. By using NACS’ services, you signify your agreement to this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, please do not use the Website, affiliated Websites or related services.

Collection of Information

User Provided Information
In general, NACS only collects personal information from you when you voluntarily provide it to us by (1) registering on the Website; (2) participating in one of the discussion forums; (3) subscribing to one of the services, such as news, media, and NACS Magazine services; (4) ordering products from the Online Store; (5) making product or service inquiries; (6) registering for an event; and (7) contacting NACS (including the webmaster, customer service representatives, or other employees) by email. In connection with these activities, NACS may collect personal information about yourself or your business, including, but not limited to, your name, mailing address, email address, username, password, a picture of you, certain preference information (such as favorite URLs), whether or not you are a NACS member, purchase information from the Online Store, telephone number, fax number, company name, title, tax jurisdiction, credit card numbers and billing information.

Navigational Information
NACS (independently or through a third-party service like Google Analytics) may collect information about you, your computer or other device used to access our services. A representative, non-exhaustive list of the types of information that may be collected includes: network or internet protocol (IP) address and type of browser you are using (e.g., Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari), Internet service provider name (e.g., Comcast, Verizon, AT&T), operating system (e.g., Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Android), originating domain name, mobile network, device identifiers, type of handheld device, geographical information, date and time you visit the Website, the areas or pages of the Website that you visit, the amount of time spent viewing the Website, the number of times you return to the Website, and other click-stream data.

Retention
We retain Personal Information that you provide to us where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, as long as is required in order to contact you about the Subscription Service or our other services, or as needed to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements).

After the expiration of any services and legal requirements, we maintain the records for up to five years for re-marketing purposes where we have consent. After that period, the records are inactivated to prevent further use. Records may still exist in the database for historical reporting purposes. We will delete this information from the servers at an earlier date if you so request, as described in "Access to Information" below.

Use of Information
NACS may use the information collected from you for any of the following purposes: (1) to facilitate your use of the Website and better understand your needs; (2) to process and fulfil your orders for certain products and services; (3) to respond to your inquiries or requests for information about the products and services; (4) to send you information, promotional materials, and offers from NACS as well as from its subsidiaries and affiliates; (5) to contact visitors to the Website when necessary; (6) to help address problems with the Website; (7) use the data to make strategic decisions on content and functionality; (8) to conduct internal reviews of the Website (e.g., to determine the number of visitors to specific pages within the site); (9) to help us better understand visitors' use of the Website; (10) to protect the security or integrity of the Website; and (11) use the captured data to categorize users and target information to them, so they have a tailored experience.

Cookies
NACS may use cookies, user ID functionality, or other methods to collect information, which may be combined with your personal information. A cookie is a small text file that may be stored on the hard drive of your computer when you access the Website and which enables us to recognize your computer when you return to the Website. Cookies also allow us to remember your username and password so that you do not have to re-enter this information each time you log in to the Website. User ID allows us to associate a persistent ID for a single user with that user's engagement data from one or more sessions initiated from one or more devices. Analytics interprets each unique user ID as a separate user, which provides a more accurate user count in our reports. When we send Analytics an ID and related data from multiple sessions, our reports tell a more unified, holistic story about a user’s relationship with our business.

You are always free to decline cookies, but in doing so you may not be able to use certain features on the Website. The "help" segment of the toolbar on most browsers explains how to configure a browser to not accept new cookies, how to have the browser inform a user when they receive a new cookie, and how to erase cookies from their hard drives. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking here.

Disclosure of Information
NACS may transfer or otherwise disclose information collected from you to the following entities for the following purposes: (1) to NACS employees, independent contractors, subsidiaries, affiliates, consultants, business associates and service providers, if the disclosure will enable that entity to perform a business, professional, or technical support function on behalf of NACS; (2) to employees, independent contractors and service providers of NACS to fulfil a product or service request; (3) as necessary if NACS determines that there has been a violation of the NACS Terms of Use; and (4) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law.

In the event that NACS or any of its assets are acquired by a third party, personal information acquired through the Website may be one of the assets transferred.

Sharing
We do not share your personal data with unaffiliated entities without your consent, except as described in this Privacy Policy. Information (e.g., NACS Membership E-Directory and attendee lists from NACS events) may be shared with affiliated entities (e.g., our exhibitors). The type of information provided is name, company, title, address, registration classification (if applicable), phone. If a customer enters a mobile phone in addition to a work phone, that is not shared. Email addresses are never shared.

Security
While any information that you transfer to NACS is done at your own risk, NACS uses a variety of security technologies and procedures consistent with current best practices to protect its Websites and databases. These measures are intended to safeguard data—including your personal information—from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data or email addresses), it is encrypted and transmitted to us using the latest secure socket layer (SSL/TLS) encryption methods. You can verify this differently in different browsers: by looking for a closed lock icon, a green location bar, or even just "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page.

Furthermore, NACS regularly uses different third-party tools to verify we are conforming to the latest security methods, protocols, and best practices to maintain safe transmissions.

Children
NACS does not direct the Website to, nor does it knowingly or intentionally collect any personal information from, children under 13.

Third Party Web Sites
The NACS Website may contain links to other third-party Websites which may have privacy policies that differ from this one. NACS is not responsible for the activities and practices that take place on these Web sites. Accordingly, NACS recommends that you review the privacy policy posted on any Website that you may access through these Websites.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
NACS reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time. NACS recommends that you revisit this Privacy Policy periodically to ensure that you are aware of the current privacy practices. We will also notify you of material changes either by email and/or by a notice on this Website. Your continued use of services following any changes signifies your acceptance of these changes.
