LOS ANGELES — Could California be saved by the bell, er, ’ball?

On Monday, California will be adding the highly-anticipated Powerball game, which is expected to add an additional $40-50 million in state revenues annually, reports CBSLA.com.

To kick off the celebration, former “Saved by the Bell” star Mario Lopez will join lottery and city officials in a ceremony in Los Angeles introducing the game. Similar celebrations will be held elsewhere throughout the state.

The addition of California lottery players may do more than just help California; the influx of new players also may pump up national Powerball jackpots more quickly or to higher levels. A recent jackpot reached $338 million.

California Lottery players already have the option to California’s SuperLotto and Mega Millions (played in 41 other states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.)

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays. The current jackpot is $50 million.
