SEATTLE – In select Seattle neighborhoods, one can order and enjoy a Starbucks coffee without leaving home. The coffeehouse chain has launched a pilot delivery service with Postmates, TechCrunch reports. 7-Eleven announced in July a similar partnership with Postmates in select cities.

Customers use the Starbucks app to order, pay via a credit card, Starbucks card or Apple Pay, then insert their address for delivery, which costs $5.99. The delivery option—only available for now in Apple iOS—is an extension of the company’s Mobile Order & Pay, which debuted nationwide in September.

“Our customers are highly engaged with Mobile Order & Pay, placing five million transactions a month, so delivery becomes a natural extension that provides another easy and convenient way to meet them where they are in their day,” said Adam Brotman, Starbucks chief digital officer.

Via its app, Postmates assists Starbucks in determining the closest store to the customer. A Postmates courier will deliver the order in under half an hour to keep drinks as hot as possible.

Starbucks is also testing its own delivery service called Green Apron, which focuses on areas near large office complexes and dense urban areas. The company’s pilot program uses a central kitchen and started with the Empire State Building in New York City.
